BOOKED LA Universal Preschool VO!

So, the MANEATER audition the other day went very well, with the exception of me being almost an hour late for it. (OMG!) Long story short, it took me almost 2 hours to get to Sherman Oaks, thanks to the nightmare that is the 405 Freeway. It also didn't help that my audition was at 4:45pm in the afternoon. Fortunately the CD was super nice, so I was able to get in and out pretty much unscathed. Hopefully some good news, by way of a callback, is in my near future.

Friday (7/18) turned out to be interesting as well, to say the least. It all started with Kenyah and I innocently accompanying Taya-Morgan to her early morning swim class. While we were there, I got a call from a Voice Over agent that I'm working with out of Portland, OR. (Not sure if I've mentioned them yet, because it's still very new...:)...) At any rate, they called asking if I was FI-Core because there was a Non-Union job up for grabs, and they wanted to know if I could do it later that day. I explained that I was not FI-Core, and we left it at that. About 30 minutes later, they called me back saying the job had been switched to Union status, and they wanted to know if I still wanted to do it. OF COURSE!...:)...

So, after swim class, the kids and I high tailed it home to freshen up, and then we were off to Burbank. When we got to the studio, not only did the folks running the session graciously allow my girls to come back so that they could watch mommy at work, but it also ended up being 2 spots instead of just 1 spot. Cool! The commercials are for a First 5 LA program called LAUP, so they might run pretty heavily here in Los Angeles. We'll see.

After that was all said and done, the girls and I were driving home, really anticipating a satisfying lunch and an afternoon nap, when we get a call from the girls' agent wanting to know if I could rush Taya-Morgan to Hollywood for a last minute Jimmy Kimmel Live audition. Of course I agreed to it, and as we started in that direction, it occurred to me that I needed to check her work permit because it had been a while since she'd been out on anything. Expired. Drats! Although we didn't get to make that particular audition, I must say the last two days have been the most activity I've seen in Hollywood in several weeks. Now, if only this whole SAG pending strike issue can be resolved, I might see more of this type of action this summer!...:)...Speaking of pending strike, what do you guys think about it? Talk to me!

On the horizon for me? Might rock the braids again for a minute, to see if that will mix up the pot a little, and my new demo reel should be done soon.

I'll holla!

Blog Disclaimer & Happy 4th!...

Okay, so several people have asked me lately if I have stories that I don't share. The short answer to that questions is: OF COURSE!

There are many many stories/experiences that I will probably never share on this blog because they are too personal and/or may cause negative or unwanted attention for celebrities and the like. I don't write this blog to put folks business out in the street. I simply try to share as much of my experience as it pertains to the industry, whether it be positive or negative. I think that I have a pretty good idea of where the line is to be drawn.

That being said, Happy 4th, and prayerfully, I'll connect with you guys next week!

Working towards a much needed BREATH-er...

On Friday (6/20) night, the hubby and I went to check out MY BROTHER'S KEEPER. Tasia Sherel and the rest of the cast did a wonderful job. It was definitely entertaining! I believe that they are talking about running it again. If so, do your best to go out and support it.

The next day, I had another production meeting for MME, this time for a gospel play that is scheduled to open in November 2008. I'll keep you posted on our involvement, and how things go.

My auditions as of late have been going well. I've been proud of the work I've done. The one for the TV Show MENTAL was a bit of a challenge for me though, because it's being shot at a studio in Columbia. Yes, that Columbia...:)...So, I had that on the brain during my audition. Why, you might ask? You guessed it, sista girl still has no passport! I don't know, I just feel like since I haven't needed it yet, I might as well hold off until I really do, right? I put in some time researching before my audition, so I know what to do should I ever need to get one at the last minute, but that didn't subside my jitters. Don't get me wrong I think I did my best, but I really think that I need a little more time to wrap my brain around the fact that this career involves traveling (and having to leave the family behind) if I should expect to succeed at it. I'll be ready next time. They were casting from tape, so I'm pretty sure that I didn't get this one. The CD's that cast the show, are the CD's that used to cast for THE SHIELD. If they call me in for this show 1/2 as much as they did for THE SHIELD, I just might be going to Columbia sometime soon! We'll see....:)...

My mother came into town last week to spend a few days with my family, and to enjoy a little one on one time with the girls while Todd and I went on our Annual Marriage Retreat in Palm Springs this past weekend. Palm Springs was HOT of course, but the down time was wonderful for us. Much needed. This weekend he and I will get a little more R&R as we take our first cruise to Ensenada, MX. Wish us luck. Neither of us have ever been on a boat/ship before. (Yes, pretty strange for a guy that was born and raised in CA, and a girl that was born in FL, lived in Sacramento as a kid, and has lived in Los Angeles for the last 11 years!) I'm just hoping that we don't get seasick.

Over the weekend, while we were in Palm Springs, the first weekend of production commenced on THE THIRST out in Death Valley. I haven't had a chance to touch base with the director yet. I'm hoping things went well, and that they managed to stay cool while they were there.

My mother left today, but last night, I took her out for a special treat! The 18th Annual Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP Theatre Awards at the Kodak Theater. It would take me forever to name the actors/performers who were in attendance, but to name just a few: Erica Hubbard, Gary Sturgis, Vivica A. Fox, Morris Chestnut, Anthony Anderson, LisaRaye, and Barry Manilow. They wouldn't allow cameras inside during the show, but these are a few of the folks we took photos with afterward. You can see the rest of the photos on my MySpace page. The HANCOCK premiere was running concurrently at Grauman's Chinese Theatre across the street. So, as I'm sure you could imagine, Hollywood Blvd was a madhouse! The thing that I found most amusing was that some celebrities were doing double duty. They even changed wardrobe to go back and forth between the two events! Oh, the lifestyles of the Rich and Famous...:)...

I'll Holla!
