Happy Birthday to Me!...:)...
My day started out a little rocky because Ms. Kenyah was clearly not interested in taking pictures today. She was in a bad mood, and I don't think there was much that I could have done to have changed that. It was nap time and she was fussy. When we were leaving however, they did tell me that they were able to get some shots that they could use. I'm really hoping that that was true, because things like that tend to make me stress out, and feel bad. But, at the end of the day, she's just a baby, and I have to remember that.
At any rate, my day got better, and I was really loving life as my husband and I shared a lovely dinner for two at Houston's. Bon apetit!...:)...
P.S. I wrote last week about how my daughter and I saw THE GOLDEN COMPASS at a SAG screening, and as I'm sure you can imagine, I have since caught wind of all of the controversy that's surrounded the film. To keep it brief, I will say that, as a Christian, I believe that I can not stand in judgement of anyone and their beliefs. No matter what they are. I can only teach them what I know and believe, if they are interested, and should I ever have the opportunity to do so. With that being said, as an actor, when I watch a film, or anything for that matter, I see it as entertainment, and a chance for me to see what other actors are creating. Plain and simple. As a result, I (personally) don't feel as if the back story of this movie/book has any baring on my psyche and/or religious beliefs. The movie did what I expected it to do: entertain my daughter and I.

VO Audition - U.S. Virgin Islands DVD - 12/12/07

Don't ask me how or why I thought the MATTEL job I took Kenyah on week before last was a commercial audition. (I guess I just have too much going on these days.) At any rate, Kenyah booked the job!
We went in for wardrobe today, and she shoots it tomorrow. Yeah, go Kenyah!

Booking, still in Progress...
VO Audition - HCC - 12/8/07
Kenyah is still on Avail...:)...
Kenyah is still on Avail...:)...
On Saturday (12/8) I went in to re-record parts of my VO Reel. I only had to redo three of the spots. Yeah!! I was so nervous about not being able to deliver, but I think things worked out really well. I always feel good after my monthly sessions with my VO Manager. I feel like I've actually worked on a job because she is able to pull so much out of me.
On Sunday evening (12/9) me, my husband, and 2 friends of ours, had the pleasure of attending an advance screening of THE GREAT DEBATERS. (Thanks to SAG of course.) And, yes, Mr. Washington was there!...:)...What a wonderful, wonderful treat it was to hear firsthand insight on his dual job of directing and acting in this film. The film is awesome by the way! It comes out on Christmas Day, so go check it out if you can. One more thing before you go, please don't leave here thinking, "Shenita thinks every film/play she sees is awesome, and a must see!" I will let you know right now, that that is absolutely not true. You just won't hear me say as much about the ones I don't particularly care for, rather than say bad things about them...:)...
Two more days til the big 31! Wow.

A Booking in Progress...
VO Audition - UMUC - 12/7/07
Me.
I just got a call that Kenyah is on AVAIL for the MATTEL job she auditioned for last week! Yeah! Go Kenyah!...:). Keep your fingers crossed.
On another note, I forgot to mention that RAY CHARLES LIVE! was amazing last weekend. If you can, definitely go check it out. Broadway has come to Pasadena. The actors do a superb job.
If the Cineplex is more your speed, check out THE GOLDEN COMPASS this weekend. I finally took advantage of a SAG Screening last night, and took Taya-Morgan to go see it! We both loved it, definitely a must see.

What a Monday - Only in this industry!....
Commercial Audition - MASTERCARD - 12/03/07 (Me, Taya-Morgan, & Kenyah)
This audition was a trip for several reasons:
The Mom.
This audition was a trip for several reasons:
- The 6:00pm audition time was for me. So I tried in vain to find a sitter at the last minute when the call came in at 4:00pm.
- The audition was in Sherman Oaks, and I live waaayy south of Sherman Oaks. Two hours, not much notice at all.
- We were sitting in the pediatrician's office with Kenyah, who was having her checkup and getting shots, when I got the call.
- At the last minute, I decided they just had to come with me. So, of course, I was super stressed out the entire 1 1/2 hour trip there. Kenyah was in hysterics the last 1/2 hour of the drive because she was sick of her carseat, and likely feeling residual pain from her shots...:(...
- We got there at 6:30pm, which ended up being fine because I called ahead, AND they were behind anyways.
- As I was signing in, the guy running the session asked if I'd signed the girls in as well. I'm like: "No, Why?" Turns out they were casting families, so the kiddos got to audition too! Way cool!
- And, even after the long drive, the girls were in an awesome mood, so everything went smooth as butter once we were inside.
- Oh yeah, this is a National Network Commercial!...:)...
Callbacks are later this week, and it will shoot next week. Puhlleease say a prayer, wish us luck, and cross your fingers! This could be a really nice Christmas for the whole clan...:)...
The Mom.

OTIS - Behind the Scenes...
Okay, I'm still waiting for my IMDB credit...:)...BUT I won't let that stop me from supporting this film to the fullest, which is slated for release in 2008. It's amazing what you can find on the internet these days. (Still not sure if that's a good thing or not.) At any rate, click on the links below to see/read about some of the behind the scenes action on the OTIS set. By the way, this is just the tip of the iceberg, if you're really into Horror Films, and want to know more about the movie, simply do a quick search online.
